Spring Homeschooling Morning Basket About Bodies of Water

Posted on March 17, 2026March 17, 2026 by missjademarkets@outlook.com

Happy April! Over the last few weeks we have experienced some amazingly warm weather. Every year when we are blessed to see the sun after a long winter we always do some spring cleaning. At the very back of our property we have a creek that the kid’s like to visit. Well this year they were troubled to find lots of trash blocking the flow of the creek. Over the past few weeks we have cleaned it up, experienced the joy of the flowing water, and even spotted a few frogs! I planned on doing a theme all about frogs but none of the books I found were getting us excited maybe in the future for now take a peek at some of the books and resources I have lined up for a lovely April morning basket all about bodies of water!

How I Use This List

I love using a themed morning basket to either introduce a new subject or to dive deeper into something that naturally comes up in our lessons. When I’m planning a theme, I start by creating a master book list like this one and checking my local library first. I’ll reserve anything they have available and build our basket around those finds.

From there, I usually choose to purchase just a few key books typically one chapter book, one board book, and one nonfiction title. This gives us a solid foundation without going overboard. Throughout the month, I’ll keep an eye out for sales, thrifted finds, or themed resources that fit naturally. Some months, I don’t make any additional purchases at all.

A lot of my effort in finding extra resources depends on my kids’ interest in the topic we’re exploring. If they’re curious and asking questions, I’ll lean in. If not, I keep it simple and that’s okay.

Please don’t feel the need to buy or track down every book on this list. Picking just a few that stand out to you and your kids is more than enough to create a rich and meaningful morning basket.

Alright enough talking let’s get to the fun part! 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
